The Atlantic Offshore Wind Energy Consortium organized on June 8, 2010, when governors of participating states signed an agreement. The Consortium is to work together to develop offshore wind energy resources along the Atlantic outer continental shelf.
Members of the Consortium include the U.S. Department of the Interior and thirteen states: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.
