ORIGIN & FUNCTIONS


DEPARTMENT OF LIQUOR CONTROL

Formerly the Liquor Control Board, the Department of Liquor Control was established in 1951 in Montgomery County (Code 1957, Art. 2B, secs. 15-201 through 15-210)


DEPARTMENT OF PERMITTING SERVICES

The Department of Permitting Services is responsible for code enforcement, inspection, and licenses (except where those functions are assigned by law to another department or agency). The Department also reviews building plans and specifications, building permits, occupancy permits, and licensing facilities for compliance with the fire prevention law. In exercising these functions, the Director consults with the Director of Fire and Rescue Services in all matters involving the interpretation, application, or revision of fire prevention laws and codes (County Code, Chapter 2, Division 7B; Chapter 8)

Under the Department are three divisions: Building Construction, Casework Management, and Land Development.
