On August 30, 2011, Mr. Jones pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to the charge of failing to file both his personal and business tax returns between 2002 and 2007. On November 28, 2011, he was sentenced to five months in prison, one-year's supervised probation, and six months of home detention. He served his sentence from January 23 to June 21, 2012 at Federal Correctional Institute-Williamsburg in Salters, South Carolina. Effective January 23, 2012, his seat on the Anne Arundel County Council was declared vacant.
