ORIGIN & FUNCTIONS


[photo, Trees near Murphy Courts of Appeal Building entrance, 361 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, Maryland] Under supervision of the Court of Appeals, the State Reporter prepares for publication reports of cases decided in the Court of Appeals and the Court of Special Appeals which have been designated for publication by the respective courts. The official opinions of the Court of Appeals appear in the Maryland Reports (Const., Art. IV, secs. 14-18A). Maryland Appellate Reports presents the official opinions of the Court of Special Appeals (Code Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article, secs. 13-201 through 13-204). The State Reporter also issues the monthly Amicus Curiarum.

Appointed by the Court of Appeals, the State Reporter serves a four-year term.
