In June 2007, the Advisory Commission to Study Luxury-Type Restaurants in Prince George's County was authorized (Chapter 608, Acts of 2007). The Commission was to consider what demand exists in Prince George's County for luxury restaurants, i.e., those with minimum seating capacity for 100 people, and minimum capital investment of $800,000 for dining room facilities and kitchen equipment (excluding costs of land, building, or lease). Further, the Commission was to examine whether more of such restaurants should be encouraged in certain parts of the County, and how an increase in their number would effect licenses already approved to sell alcoholic beverages in the County.
Authorization for the Commission expired May 31, 2009. Members were never appointed.
